City of San Diego Says Crime Rate Lowest in 50 Years

San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and outgoing Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman have released the crime data for the City in 2017.  It showed the murder rate down 32%, property crime down 8% and violent crime down 2%.

All together, the crime rate in the City of San Diego dropped 7%, the lowest level since 1968.  The Mayor said it was one of the reasons he nominated Assistant Chief David Nisleit to take over for Chief Zimmerman once she retires on March 1st.
