How to Have a Happy and Long Life

Have you noticed that it seems more people are living into their early 100's?

It’s not a lot of people who are living that long but there does seem to be more of them.

Take Louise Signore who celebrated her 107th birthday this week. How has she done it? She says she maintains a healthy diet and exercises regularly. But Louise says she believes the real reason why she's still living at the age of 107, is because she never got married.

Maybe. But her sister is 102 years old and married, so it may have to do more with good genes than wedding bells.

Just three months ago, a study published in the journal of the Association for Psychological Science found that having a happy spouse leads to a longer marriage, and the study shows that it's associated with a longer life, too.

The lead researcher saying the study showed that “...spousal life satisfaction was associated with mortality, regardless of individuals' socioeconomic and demographic characteristics, or their physical health status.”

There is that old saying about a happy wife means a happy life, which can lead to a longer life. And it does happen in real life.

Today in fact a memorial service is being held in San Diego for a man we know through marriage, who lived till he was just shy of 99.

Married most of his life…re-marrying after each of his first two wives passed away…Don was married to his third wife when he died. And he was known as a happy man with a happy life.An example he leaves behind for all of us.
