A Lesson From Napa

A Lesson From Napa

We sure got another reminder Sunday about being prepared for earthquakes.

That 6.0 quake that hit near Napa should shake us up a bit about being ready if one like that would hit here in San Diego.

The chance of a big quake is not as good here as it is up in the San Francisco area…we all know that. Isn’t that one of the reasons we live here and not in San Francisco or even in L-A where the dangerous San Andreas fault is so prominent.

But we also know that doesn’t mean a big one can’t or won’t hit here.

And it doesn’t even have to be centered here for us to have damage here.

The 6.4 quake in El Centro back in 1979 and the 7.2 earthquake in Mexico on Easter Sunday in 2010 are proof of that.

But after hearing of things falling on people when the earth shook in the Napa area, we all know it would be smart to get better prepared now…while a big quake like the one Sunday is still so fresh in our minds.

One thing’s for sure.  There are a lot of people who live in  the Napa area who which they had been better prepared.
