Listening to her is hard.

The mother of the 25-year-old woman who was killed along with a 59-year-old man who tried to help her before they were struck by a woman CHP say was drunk.

When she was interviewed on KOGO this week, it brought tears to lots of eyes as other parents shared her pain of losing a child in a senseless and unnecessary DUI caused crash.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving has been fighting for decades now to get tougher with drunk drivers who cause accidents, injuries and deaths.

Yet we still see drivers with multiple DUI convictions getting off relatively easy….and only when they kill, do they go to prison.

We all know punishment for drunk driving is a lot harsher in a lot of other countries.

And we all know that we need to get tougher.

And many know that but for the grace of God, they could have been killed or killed others when drinking and driving.

The tragic accident out on I-8 this week is a sober reminder and maybe that’s how something good will come out of it.
