So how important is the military to San Diego?
Not surprisingly…a new report out this week says it’s very important In fact the report says one in four local jobs are tied to the military.
And the military in San Diego means almost 21 billion dollars to the local economy.
Now while this report is all about the economics, the greatest benefit to having so many military bases and businesses in San Diego is not about money….not even about national security.
What San Diego gets most with all the military personnel here are the people in the military.
It takes a special kind of person to volunteer to serve their country by fighting for their country.
And it takes a special kind of person to be the spouse and family manager of deployed military personnel.
It’s fine to talk about the economic benefit of the military in San Diego, but when it comes right down to it, the greatest benefit of all is to live and work with men and women who are
dedicated to being the best they can be for the sake of the rest of us.
