The Padres haven’t won many games this year but it looks like they may have won new owners who are all about winning.
If the reports in the U-T are right, the family that made the Dodgers a winner along with a winning San Diego businessman and a winning San Diego athlete will soon be the new owners
of a losing team.
It looks like one of baseball’s most historic and respected baseball families, the O’Malley’s along with longtime and successful San Diego business owner Ron Fowler and San Diego’s hall of fame golfer Phil Mickelson will head up the group that will soon be signing Padres paychecks.
And that is good news for a team that can use some good news.
The price tag is reported to be some 800 million dollars…so the new owners appear to not only have the money but the will to turn the lowly Padres into a championship quality team.
And it’s about time.
John Moores may have saved baseball for San Diego when he first bought the team but a divorce and the economics of the time have placed him on the disabled list as a baseball owner.
So a new season in the history of the San Diego Padres is about to begin. Here’s hoping it’s the start of many winning seasons.
