Anyone else notice that one of the worst hurricanes ever to hit the U.S was named Sandy and one of the worst school shootings in the U.S. happened at Sandy Hook elementary?

It probably means nothing.  Probably just an odd coincidence.

But the greater significance is not that the name Sandy is common to both…but that both events raised the same question.

And that question is this:  Where was God?

We also heard that question asked after September 11th 2001…and we’ve heard it asked after
countless other bad things have happened, whether caused by nature or caused by man.

So what’s the answer? Where was God last Friday morning when a man named Adam committed a horrific act?

The governor of Connecticut said that on the morning of December 14th, evil visited that small
town.  And indeed it did.

But the presence of evil does not prove that God was not there.

What it does prove is why God IS here.

In fact, the presence of evil is why, in a few days, Christians will celebrate Christmas to remember its message of good news overcoming evil.

And this year, it couldn’t come at a better time.
