So President Obama is Time Magazine’s Person of the Year.

Of course Time could pick presidents Persons of the Year every year since their decision is only based on impact and newsworthiness, they say.

So not exactly a surprising decision.

But there still are a lot of people who would be better choices for Time magazine’s Person of the Year.

They’re not as well known as presidents, but they’re people who deserve to be recognized.

Among these are the first responders who rushed to Sandy Hook Elementary School, to a Portland shopping mall and to a movie theater in Aurora Colorado.

And there are the thousands of men and women in the military and their families who again this year gave and sacrificed to protect our country.

And how about the many doctors and nurses and other health care workers who volunteered to help the victims from one of the worst storms ever, Hurricane Sandy?

And how about the many average Americans who dug down into their pockets to donate money to the victims of that storm and the countless other natural disasters around other
world?

When you think about all those people, is a politician, even the President of the United States, really person of the year?
