Sometimes the more things change, the more they eventually change back.
Fashion is well known for changing back. We go from skinny ties to wide ties back to skinny ties. Women’s skirt lengths go up and then down, then back up and then backdown.
But now “changing back to something” has come to the donut business and so far the reaction is as warm as a baker’s oven.
The announcement that Dunkin Donuts stores are coming back to San Diego and other parts of Southern California is good news.
Years ago, we had Dunkin Donuts in San Diego.
We can all remember standing in front of the counter choosing from among chocolate covered donuts, strawberry covered donuts, sprinkled donuts, French donuts, powdered sugar covered donuts and good old fashioned and usually warm plain dunkin donuts.
Then suddenly years ago, the Dunkin Donuts were replaced by imposters. Not bad. But not the same.
With the return of the original Dunkin Donuts, what was once a local favorite will be back. And so will all the dunkin.
Proof that sometimes the good ole days do come back.
