If you are sending a kid off to college, you are likely worried about paying for it. What you should really be concerned about is, whether the education they get will be useful for anything outside of bragging rights. College kids are not really known for their pragmatism, which is why there are degrees available in women's studies...and art history. Don't get me wrong, I have no feelings whatsoever on either of said subjects. I am sure they are really awesome, and you could learn, like, a lot about feminism and Mondrian. And that's certainly laudable. But, college used to be a place you went to secure your earning ability. Yes, as in, money. And no matter what happens in this crazy world, you will need to earn money to pay your rent, and buy your food. Degrees in business, finance, accounting, engineering and medicine WILL come in handy. Use your in-depth understanding of the De Stijl movement to show off for your friends at the museum.
