I figure I am just like you. The things that are top of mind for me today 
are the health and safety of my, (rapidly growing,) family. I am worried
 about my retirement...will it be enough? Should I save more? I am deeply 
concerned about our community, which has floundered along with most others 
during this recession. I talk to small business owners and working schlubs like 
myself, and those are the refrains I hear. People are peeved at ineffectual 
government, and feel helpless to fix it, the problems are so ingrained. It's 
easy to get so caught up in our individual miseries, that we cease to keep the 
big picture in mind as well. How can I worry about a failing infrastructure when 
I am facing a failing home front? I think the two are linked, and that's why I 
have become so political. It's why I spend so much time trying to choose the 
best candidates, and figure out what is hidden in ballot initiatives. I look at it 
this way: If San Diego fails, I fail. I won't tolerate that.
