I figure I am just like you. The things that are top of mind for me today
are the health and safety of my, (rapidly growing,) family. I am worried
about my retirement...will it be enough? Should I save more? I am deeply
concerned about our community, which has floundered along with most others
during this recession. I talk to small business owners and working schlubs like
myself, and those are the refrains I hear. People are peeved at ineffectual
government, and feel helpless to fix it, the problems are so ingrained. It's
easy to get so caught up in our individual miseries, that we cease to keep the
big picture in mind as well. How can I worry about a failing infrastructure when
I am facing a failing home front? I think the two are linked, and that's why I
have become so political. It's why I spend so much time trying to choose the
best candidates, and figure out what is hidden in ballot initiatives. I look at it
this way: If San Diego fails, I fail. I won't tolerate that.
