Money. We all have some. Most of us need more...yet we make due. This is not true of government, and that is causing many of us to have less money than we should. California voted for a high speed rail...a project that has proved to be MUCH more expensive than we were told at the time. (No, I did not vote for it.) Here we sit in a state that cannot pay it's bills, and this government, flying in the face of good sense, has decided that high speed rail is worth it no matter what the cost. And the cost is BILLIONS more than expected. C'est la vie, say the pols in Sacramento, and they double down. What is important to remember here is that if you want your high speed rail, you are going to have to do without something else. That's how the real world budgets. So, you want to spend 100 billion over here...that's 100 billion you DON'T have over there. Pick the services you want in California, and get ready to pay for them...but you don't get all of them. You want welfare, schools, roads, cops, firefighters...ok. But they must be paid for. And don't you dare come back to me and say we have to cut those services, or raise taxes, when you have a multi-billion dollar, feel-good boondoggle up the road that you insist is the transportation of the future. Sell your sunshine somewhere else, because I ain't buying....and I sure as Hell am not voting to increase ANYONE'S taxes to pay for this crap.
