ON THE SHOW TODAY:

When people began planning the
9-11 Memorial in NYC they said the memorial would be free and open to the
public. That
all changed on March 1 when, without notice, they began changing people $2 to
make a reservation and they justified it by saying they don’t get public money.
Not true – they’ve received almost $1B in public money for this memorial and
tax-exempt status from government. 9-11 happened to everybody, but some think
they own the event.

I’m sick of North Korea already.
We’ve been getting ‘breaking news’ from the Korean Peninsula for the last three
weeks and it’s all about the anniversary of the founder of N. Korea’s
celebration (he would be 101 if he was alive today), so
to celebrate Lil’ Kim’s grandfather, N. Korea will likely shoot a missile into
the Sea of Japan (or into Seoul, nobody knows).  The
strangest thing is nobody’s seen Lil’ Kim Jong Un for two weeks – sparking
rumors of a coup – happy birthday grandfather.

The
worst part of the whole issue on the Korean Peninsula is the United States is
offering concessions to the North – after spending tens of millions of dollars
putting anti-missile technology in the
region.  What message does this send our
allies? We’ll bargain with a dictator’s grandson – who hasn’t been seen in two
weeks – to make things easier? Who’s in charge of our foreign policy?

Speaking of terrible foreign
policy: Iran announced
today that it was well on its way to starting World War III – fantastic huh?  While the world is focused on what is an
anemic threat on the other side of the world, Iran is speeding up production
and telling the world what it will do with its nuclear weapon.

Now to Margaret Thatcher: Baroness
Thatcher, the first and only female prime minister of Great Britain, died last
week. Though
about a hundred people showed up the day her death was announced to celebrate
her passing (the majority of whom were not alive when she was in office
and those that were talked about how little they got from government after she
left office), it was not just in Britain where people showed their disdain for
her. Stranger
still is the fact that the so-called “Thatcher Death Song” is number two on the
British charts for music (says a lot about British music doesn’t it – when
Adele’s not singing, they’re stuck with drivel).

Thatcher laughed at the prospect of being disliked –
she simply did not care – I think she’d probably find it rather entertaining
that people are taking to song to hate her.

In the United States: Democrats
in the Senate refused to allow a unanimous consent motion to continue to
declare the United States in mourning for the loss of the woman that
led Britain to a point of staying out of the Euro (they should be thanking her
for that alone) and who led her country to help Reagan tear down
Communism.  My
favorite Thatcherisms are in the Sun in the UK, and the
funeral is Wednesday and will be complete with mindless protests (the good lady
would not care). By the way: the
U.S. House UNANIMOUSLY passed a resolution honoring Lady Thatcher – just
saying.

This
week we’ll get a peek (literally) at the 1,500 page ‘immigration reform’ bill that will be brought up in the Senate.  Much like Obamacare – that came in at just
under 2,000 pages, Senators
will only have about a day to digest what Sen.
Rubio says is not amnesty (if you have to say it isn’t amnesty, it likely is).

Say it isn’t so Kathleen: Medicare
price hikes are going to hit what the president called the ‘most vulnerable’
recipients (the middle class).  It’s
one thing for Obamacare not to be set up on time (it’s only going to be a year
late), but it’s quite another for EVERY
promise made by Obama and company about healthcare to be a lie (or wrong).

Speaking of the President: Michelle
and Barack released their tax returns and paid an effective federal tax rate of
18%. For all the talk the Obama’s (and people like them) give to paying
“their fair share” or “people like me” when talking about taxes, it’s amazing
that they pay among the lowest rate of income tax (lower than I pay!). The
ironic thing is they could have paid more, but they took EVERY deduction (including
charitable ones) they could. If they loved taxes so much, why not pay more? AND,
Obamacare will cost OBAMA less than it will cost me!

The Biden family released their
tax returns too and they continue to rent
a cottage on their Delaware property to the Secret Service (yes, we pay
to protect him and we pay to have agents live at his house, but he charges the
federal government for the space!) and they released their charitable giving:
1.8% (not kidding). The
Catholic from Delaware who gives speeches about what a great Catholic he is
gives less
to charity, again, than I do.

I had to wire my accountant my “fair share” of taxes
this year and it wasn’t pretty. I’m just glad I was able to do it after I was
put in a good mood with brunch. The Obamacare penalty that I will pay next
year, though, is MORE than the guy who loves that his name associated with it!

Barbara
Boxer rarely does anything that I’m in favor of, but one of the things that she
is doing is introducing legislation that would allow Israel to enter the visa
program that would allow Israelis coming to visit the USA the ability to enter
without a visa in advance. People
are opposed because Israel keeps people that would do harm to their country out
and the British Guardian doesn’t like it. But, remember when Britain
kept out Michael Savage because they didn’t like what he said? I guess they
forgot. Same newspaper doing the reporting so I find it hard that they
did.

The
long-term unemployed are now blaming their inability to get a job on the fact
that they are out of work. This is
almost as the states that are declaring
smoking a preexisting condition for insurance purposes under Obamacare
(you can’t charge people more that smoke, but you can charge people more who
earn more money and work harder – odd). I have a story about somebody that has
been unemployed for a long time and he just turned to disability – now he’s one
of the millions on the dole forever.

Just when you thought “celebrity”
couldn’t get any stranger: on Saturday, Justin
Bieber went to the Anne Frank house museum and wrote in the guest book that he
hopes that Frank would have been a fan (the kid is old enough to know
better – or isn’t he?), Hugh
Jackman was at the gym on Saturday and got a razor full of a woman’s “down
there” hair thrown at him (try to get a cop for a mugging and you’ll
never see one, but the cops tracked this gal down), and now…

President
Obama and his gay lover, Reggie, were shooting hoops at the White House and as they came together to block a shot, the
couple’s eyes met and they disappeared to the shed.  Maybe it wasn’t as romantic as a George
Michael in the park kind of love-in, but it’s kind of odd.

Death and taxes – two inescapable
truths – but what about death, taxes, police training, and a lawsuit?  Turns
out police in Niagara, New York are at the receiving end of a lawsuit because
their sons remains were used as a training exercise! Of all the dead
people to pick from, they chose somebody that was wanted.

Gun
control is making its way through the Senate (or is it – watch
Saturday Night Live and you’ll wonder) – they don’t know if they have
the votes yet.

ON THE SHOW TODAY:

The
second diplomat in a generation was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday in
Afghanistan (the first was the U.S.
Ambassador to Libya on September 11^th last year – an event that has
still not seen a single person brought to justice). 25-year-old
Anne Smedinghoff was killed along with five other Americans when the Chairman
of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was visiting Afghanistan.

The
purpose of his visit was to talk about the withdrawal of U.S. troops from
Afghanistan in 2014.  The biggest question is whether or not that
departure should come sooner rather than later. 
How about we load all of our troops and weapons on planes and fly them
out – followed by carpet bombing raids until Afghanistan and Pakistan’s tribal
regions are reduced to dust?

Our first golfer (AKA: President
Obama) is said to be ‘outraged’ and ‘condemned’ the attack (oddly
he issued no statement – but he did when movie critic Roger Ebert died)
(what does that even mean), but John
Kerry, the Secretary of State, made a statement.

The
death toll over the weekend in Afghanistan hit six and there is no question that violence will only
escalate as the departure of United States troops grows closer – how about to
save lives we stop the field trips of high ranking Americans to the ‘country’?

President Obama was busy over the
weekend – making
the absurd case in his weekly radio address that he’s already started
decreasing the deficit.  Not
kidding (don’t let these $1.3 trillion annual deficits fool you – Obama says he
cut it by some $4 trillion.  It’s not
true, of course, but he said it.

Obama saying that he cut the
deficit (despite the fact that his budget was due in February and will only be
released this week) is like his college
habit of using crack (or coke or whatever it was) was a 16 nickel bag a
week habit that went down to 12 and he argued to Michelle that he was
clean.  He’s
still using crack (increasing the deficit and debt), but he’s using less so
it’s not as destructive (but it’s still horrible).

Speaking of the Obama budget, it’s
due out this week (again, it was due in February – by law – but he ignores the
law regularly). According
to sources in the White House he’s going to begin to cut spending
(after he leaves office, not before) by doing things like
means testing Social Security (and other entitlements) and increasing
taxes.

Would you want to be paid in your
country’s treasury bills?  Well, with
Obama looking to Europe (and Cyprus) for solutions to the mess he made of the
nation’s finances, here’s one for you: Portugal. They’re
considering paying their workers in treasury bills that are virtually worthless
in the economy today.  Print a bunch of
them and you can wrap fish in them.

One of the taxes he’s looking at generating
comes from taxing American’s retirement savings – he must have like what he saw
coming out of Cyprus where money people SAVED was simply confiscated by the
government.  In
this case he is putting forward the idea that government should decide how much
savings is enough and the rest belongs to government.

If this statement is not
Socialism, I don’t know what is: wealthy taxpayers can currently “accumulate
many millions of dollars in these accounts, substantially more than is needed
to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving.” What incentive to save? Should
we all be wards of the State?

Many people in this part of the
country know of Pastor Rick Warren. His
family disclosed that his son took his own life in a suicide that
rocked the church to its core.  Not
to leave a Christian in peace the left went crazy on the Internet – to the
point that even the media covered the vitriol.

North Korea is still in the news –
first
they cut the phone line connecting the North to the South, then they declared
that they were back
at war with the South (of course nobody fired anything, but they like to
be loud) THEN
they got the attention of our esteemed Secretary of Defense who decided
to send a litany of assets to the Sea of Japan and surrounding areas (I thought
we couldn’t afford war because of sequestration? Remember when the actual war
couldn’t get a ship because of the sequester – that hadn’t kicked in
yet?).  Anyway – it gets worse as the
North decided to announce that they might launch a missile (something
they do whenever the potbellied dictator is hungry).

Oh, the
North was kind enough to let us know that war might resume on Wednesday
– the day they told ambassadors to be out of the country or they can’t
guarantee safety.  China
is stepping in telling every that they’re ‘concerned’ over events on the Korean
Peninsula.  Great – we’ve got
them concerned, but what does that even mean? 
Maybe we should send some of the Code Pink gals to be ambassador to
North Korea and hope their safety is compromised. Surely they can talk Kim
jung-un out of war… One
thing the North did get is the delay of a rocket test – not from the north, but
from the USA! WE gave in to the North’s rantings instead of the other
way around. Insane.

Some
Long Beach police officers were found liable for the shooting death of a guy
they thought was brandishing a weapon – that was actually a garden hose nozzle.  The jury awarded the family of the dead man
millions of dollars, but what about his responsibility in this whole episode?
Apparently, he’s guiltless for not listening to officers.

A gay tryst with a Pennsylvania
mayor (and part of the Michael Bloomberg campaign against legal weapons
ownership) ended
the career of a mayor and sullied the already sullied name of Bloomberg’s
assault on the Second Amendment.

Rand
Paul said that Republicans (and evil Evangelical Christians) too often appear
too eager for war (not kidding).  He said it with a straight face and it comes
on the heels of the U.S.
Army declaring in a training session that along with al Qaeda and
Hamas, groups to fear in equal measure are Evangelical Christians, Catholics,
Jews (nowhere did they mention the people that fly planes into building or the
ONLY group killing Americans in the world today – MUSLIMS).

Speaking of war – remember the War
on Poverty started by Lyndon Johnson in 1969? 
Well, since
Johnson declared the war we’ve spent $15 TRILLION to end poverty and if
adding people to the poverty list was the goal, we’d be winning it, but nope –
the war on poverty is a failure and there is nothing worse than things like food
stamps (15% of the US are on them) and some of the regular welfare
programs.

The
Marine Corps is looking for more Marines – not to fight wars (like 03
infantrymen that make up the backbone of the Corps), but WM’s of “Women
Marines” who can become the senior leaders
of the future. Nothing wrong with that, but when you are downsizing the Marine
Corps, why not recruit from within instead of seek people simply because of
their gender? Did
the Infantry Officer failure (a very public one) of the first women not teach
the Corps anything?

ON THE SHOW TODAY:

Easter is being celebrated
everywhere around the world (unless you consider that though Google
marks Muslim holidays it failed to mark Easter and opted instead for Cesar
Chavez). During Pope Francis’ first Easter Urbi
et Orbi message he told the world to ‘change hatred to love’ and had
other lofty goals. This followed the pontiff’s break with tradition by washing
the feet of prisoners, including women and Muslims, in the days leading
up to the holiest day on the Christian calendar.

The Obama’s attended Easter
Services at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington. Looks like Obama found
his new racist, leftist preacher to replace Rev. Jeremiah Wright as the
preacher from St.
John’s railed against what he called ‘captains of the religious right’
– even saying that the religious right want ‘blacks
in the back of the bus’ and women in the kitchen.  You’ve got to wonder about the judgment of
our president’s religious picks (they’re almost as bad as his Cabinet picks).

Since today is all about the
Christian belief that Jesus rose from the dead after being executed, it’s
important to point out the story of a professor in Florida who asked students
to write the name Jesus on a piece of paper and stomp on it.
The professor is on administrative leave after national media picked up the
story. Why is he teaching and what would have happened if Allah was on
the paper instead of Jesus?

Watching the first
family head to church today brings up the question of travel expenses: just
yesterday there were reports being filed about Obama’s
kids being on a ski vacation in Colorado (Spring Break II?); this came right
after returning from the Bahamas. Now we see they flew back to D.C. to
spend Easter with their parents and they’re heading out on another vacation
this week. How much of our tax dollars do we owe these kids and their family?

And let’s not forget
about the Biden family (who could never afford the myriad of vacations he’s
been on the last few years if he had to pay for them), but
he’s on his third since the beginning of the year! How about we force
public servants to pay for their own vacations? Biden’s third vacation comes
right after we learned the obscene
costs of sending him to Paris and London.

You may not remember
the Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Hasan, but he’s still on trial for killing and
wounding troops in the name of Allah.  Legislation
making its way through Congress would give the Purple Heart to those killed or
wounded that day – DoD says not to do it. Why? You won’t believe it.

As we head into April
a lot of people are thinking about what they are going to owe Uncle Sam (and
Jerry Brown) – I know I am – and turns out Mark
Zuckerberg is going to think about it too – much more than me, but to the tune
of $1 BILLION! Being in the bracket where government takes HALF of what
you earn is insane – sadly, too many of us find ourselves there and there are
millions getting ‘refunds’ that earned nothing.

The United States is
sending billions of dollars in aid money to Egypt and now we’re learning more
what that regime is capable of. Bassem
Youssef (Egypt’s Jon Stewart) was arrested after he insulted Egypts
Muslim Brotherhood president and ‘insulted Islam’ – he can get the death
penalty. So much for the Arab Spring that Obama talked about. He
is out on bail.

The people of one
Texas county are terrified after a deputy was killed, a prosecutor gunned down
and now the
district attorney and his wife were executed in their home on Saturday night.  Imagine the terror in that county when the
police cannot protect their own.

Speaking of crime: the
Siskiyou sheriff is looking for two men who they say got away with $1.25
million in gold. The name Siskiyou may sound familiar – it’s the same
police agency that got notorious boyfriend killer Jodi Arias who is on trial in
Arizona right now. Busy, sleepy town.

You
want little junior to get a head-start on learning so you buy him an iPad, but what does it do to his little brain? The
NY Times has a report and it’s pretty interesting. I’d chance it!

If you knew you were
going to die and had $2 million that you could do anything with, what would you
do? Bury
some treasure for people to find? That question was pondered by one
millionaire in New Mexico and people are searching for buried treasure – the 11^th clue
was just released. But is it really out there?

How much money do you
think has been squandered in Afghanistan (forget about the billions we lost in
Iraq)?  One
study puts the amount that has been lost, stolen, thrown away or otherwise
squandered at $100 BILLION. Forget just leaving that country – let’s
make them pay us back somehow – maybe emeralds or whatever natural resource
they might have.

Russia
is placing even more restrictions on adoptions from the United States (and
other Western countries) – this time the question is about gay adoptions and
Putin says no.  I have no problem with Putin saying no to
adoptions by any group he wants – it’s his country, but I do have a question
about the need for Americans to travel to Russia for adoptions when we have plenty of kids
needing families here.

Gay marriage made it
to the Supreme Court last week (Prop
8 and DOMA)
and there is much to be said about the issue – frankly, I think I could have
argued it better, but that said: it looks like DOMA will likely fall and Justices
were looking for a way to get around ruling on the question of Prop 8 in its
entirely by talking about standing. 
Decision around June.

ON THE SHOW TODAY:

Democrats
are putting on a show with their new budget that doesn’t count over $1.2
TRILLION in spending (and they have a more than
$1 trillion tax increase on top of the largest tax increase in U.S. history
that took effect on January 1, 2013).  Some of the
spending is just amazing, but nothing is more damaging than the continued
borrowing.

It’s just money? Federal
spending was up $30.5 billion in the first five months of fiscal 2013 compared
to the first five months of fiscal 2012, according to newly released
data from the U.S. Treasury.

We found out this week that there
is yet another study to find out why
lesbians are chubby compared to straight women and gay men.  It sounded familiar and it
turns out the government did a similar study in the past – just a few years
ago.  The study showed that body image was more
important to men and the $1.5 million sounds small, but imagine how many other
things government is doing over and over and over again.

Ever wonder what it would be like
to be on a train when the nuclear monitors went off?  Now you don’t have to – here
is video from Chicago of what happens during a false alarm.

For
the first time, two Academic Decathlon teams from California will proceed to
the national competition,
setting the stage for a showdown between former national title winners from Los
Angeles Unified.

The problem with cash in a combat
zone is people will steal it: An Army staff sergeant was sentenced to five
years in prison for stealing $1 million from the government in a scam while she
was serving in Afghanistan.  Tonya
Long, a 13-year Army veteran, pleaded guilty to stealing at least $1 million in
cash payments meant for Afghan drivers of trucks delivering supplies to U.S.
military bases in Afghanistan.

America has a very low incidence
of tuberculosis, but
illegals are bringing in something more dangerous than sheer numbers – they’re
bringing in a strain of TB that is dangerous because it is drug resistant.  This, of for no other reason, is a reason to
reconsider our ridiculous effort to throw open the jails of all illegals under
the guise of funding.

Sarah
Palin made the base cheer when she took to the stage at CPAC and took a giant
sip from a Big Gulp – Nanny Bloomberg wouldn’t
have liked it, but the people of NYC seem not to mind that he’s doing all he
can to intrude on their lives.  A court
struck down the large soda ban, but they might not be so lucky in the future.

Cyprus woke on Saturday to an announcement by the
government: everybody would be losing 10% of their private accounts in banks
across the island.  ATMs
ran dry when there was a run on banks with people trying to take the money they
saved out of institutions that would be stealing it because the Eurozone
(not even their own government) said so. 
Could this be what we face in the future?  The
United Kingdom said this type of intervention raised serious issues and set a
dangerous precedent.

A
case that divided a small community in Ohio set the Internet ablaze on Sunday when a jury
convicted two football stars of liberty after they raped a young woman.  CNN
was caught up in the debate when it said the conviction “ruined the lives” of
the men involved – the girl that was raped was not mentioned first.

Pope
Francis did his first Sunday mass since his election as Pope and his walking around Rome was a hit.  People seem to genuinely love this Pope –
well, not everybody: gays
are upset that he is not pro-gay marriage and abortionists
are upset that he’s opposed to infanticide.  You’d think he was Catholic or something… oh
wait.

Time to fire John Boehner as Speaker! The
country isn’t facing an immediate debt crisis, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Sunday, but
he argued that Congress and the president must reform entitlements to avert one
that lies dead ahead. At
least Boehner says that we’ve already done all the tax increasing we’re going
to do.

President
Obama is traveling to Israel where he will attempt to win over the Israeli
people – he can’t, but he’ll try. He’ll
tell everybody that Iran cannot get a nuke (just
as he said they’re one year away from their goal of a nuclear weapon).
What a joke this trip will be.

A
man asked to see a shotgun in a sporting goods store and ended up going to the
bathroom and using the same gun to shoot himself.
 They should charge his estate for the use of
the gun.

Ashley
Judd is a Hollywood liberal and
shouldn’t be ashamed of what she believes, but the problem now is what she
believes is so extreme that not
even Democrats in her home state of Kentucky can back her.  This is what happens when celebrity invades
politics.

Anybody that watches Joan and
Melissa Rivers on Lifetime know well and good that earthquakes were on
everybody’s mind, but what if
earthquakes could turn water into gold?

People
should take pride in the fact that Marines from Camp Pendleton played an
integral role in so much of the war in Iraq. Whatever people think about the invasion in the first
place (something agreed to by Congress by the way), the fact is we went and our
men and women fought with great honor and integrity. This
isn't the 1970s when every hippy and flower child needs to remark how they
support the troops, but not the war - nobody cares about that. You
should be proud that we have a generation of Americans who were willing,
without a draft, to fight for the cause of freedom.

Looks like Mayor Bob Filer (D) is
aloof and out of control at San Diego City Hall.  A
profile and survey of residents shows the man as not much of a leader and out
of touch, seemingly unable to get anything done.

Federal prosecutors now say the
former head of the labor union for U.S. Border Patrol agents was defrauding the
union with bogus wage and travel claims for close to two decades.  The
allegation is the latest in the case against T.J. Bonner, who led the National
Border Patrol Council from 1993 until he retired in 2010.

ON THE SHOW TODAY:

You’ll be happy to know that sequestration
(the fictitious “cut” in federal spending that is actually not a cut at all)
will not stop Michelle Obama from ringing in her 50^th birthday in a
most fantastic way: Adele, Beyonce and more will be singing at the
White House bash next year – I wonder what it will cost taxpayers (and it
ALWAYS costs taxpayers).

Don’t worry: You’re not invited! The
White House cancelled the tours that are typically given by volunteer ushers
at the White House with a $30 an hour Secret Service Agent keeping vigil over
various rooms.  What will this save?
About $18,000 a week if tours ran at the summer schedule (and they don’t) all
year long.  Absurd, but the
White House said to make the budget cuts hurt and since the
prognostications about planes
falling out of the sky and airport
delays and teacher
cuts were not true, they had to cut SOMETHING visible to the public.

Interesting they chose New
Jersey’s airports to close air traffic control terminals since New Jersey just
got a giant infusion of cash (in the form of Hurricane Sandy relief) AND
it’s one of the least safe airports in America – with
a fake bomb making it through the screening process.  Not only that – a TSA
agent talked to the NY Post about how little a TSA agent does and how
unqualified they are: Some of them couldn’t go to the military since they don’t have high school diplomas –necessary for the USMC, but not the TSA (or front line of terrorism – DHS talking points).

Speaking of Michelle’s birthday
party: just as they begin announcing the participants of her hedonistic
celebration of herself, the military made a few announcements: they’re
going to cut tuition assistance (THE program that allows members of the
military to go to school while they’re on active duty), they’re going
to close commissaries – grocery stores on military installations,
something that should happen, unless overseas – and they’re going to have to pare
down DOD schools – again, something that should happen in the USA, but
not overseas. 

Amazing that they’re not cutting ONE
new ship or weapon system or any foreign aid – we just sent more than we spend on tuition assistance to Egypt
and Syria,
all prioritized
by the PRESIDENT, not the
Congress. We
even sent $8.4 MILLION to Egypt to give them an Egyptian Sesame Street (not
kidding)!

Just in case you thought the whole
world revolved around the United States – the
Falklands voted on Sunday in a referendum to maintain their ties to the United
Kingdom and Argentina says the vote doesn’t matter.  It’s going to be interesting to see if this
Conservative Prime Minister is willing to protect the small islands off the
coast of Argentina.

Hugo Chavez’s funeral was held
last week with a delegation of U.S.
“dignitaries” (including Sean Penn and some idiots from the State Department
& Congress) saying farewell to the dictator who amassed a fortune
estimated around $2 billion (he’s
a man of the people - $2 billion in 14 years is tiny for a South American
strongman thug). Now he’s
going on display for “the people” to enjoy – like Lenin.  I’m just glad to see him gone.

Not gone is Afghanistan’s
president, Hamid Karzai, who also amassed a giant fortune for somebody that did
nothing in his former life.  That money
was, of course, the American people’s money before he took it – and now he’s
mad, so on the same day our Defense
Secretary was in Afghanistan – isn’t the Pentagon out of money with
sequestration – the underwhelming and unqualified Chuck Hagel, Karzai
accused the USA of cavorting with the enemy: Taliban.  The man is paranoid (or are we?).

Ever wonder if the fur you were
wearing was real or fake?  Do people have
to tell you?  In
some states they do and it turns out Marc Jacobs (whoever that is) is selling
fur that comes off dogs and you’re buying it!  I’m all for wearing fur, but the idea that
you are not told it’s fur is as bizarre as those zealots that demand you not
wear it.

Remember Juan Williams?  He
was fired from NPR for talking about Muslims in a politically incorrect way
(so Fox
News hired him for a couple million dollars and gave him a platform to sell a
book talking about how he’s muzzled – how you’re muzzled and on the
highest rated cable news network is beyond me, but okay) – turns
out he is in some trouble for not attributing his words (plagiarism).  He’s blaming it on his research assistant
(don’t they all), but I’ve been both a researcher and writer and NEVER
have I given things to people that I’ve written that didn’t come out of my own
head or notes to a writer that I didn’t say where they came from.

Where do you want to die?  Ever think about it?  Well, the
founder of SpaceX has thought about it a lot and he wants to die on Mars.  No, this is not Coast to Coast – it’s the LA
Times (close enough?) – maybe.

She called the killing of Jewish
tourists in Bulgaria “very sweet news” and she just got started Tweeting when
for six months she made the most hateful and disgusting comments about
Israelis, Jews, even Americans.  That
didn’t stop the State Department from issuing invitations to honor Samira
Ibrahim with its Woman of Courage award. Courageous how?  She had a so-called "virginity
test" by Egypt's government.  She
says it’s all a mistake and her
Twitter account was hacked. 
Huh?  This is vetting, State
Department style.  I’ll say it on the
record: all of my tweets are mine – even the ones about young Muslim Jihadists.  The
State Department relented on the award, but the damage was done.

I love when papers like the LA
Times attempt to take on "lies"
about entitlements - their first is the best, but read all of them: the
increase of payroll taxes on January 1st was not an increase, it was a
restoration of the 2010 rates (can't you say the same thing about
reducing the budget to 2002 levels? You could, but the same paper would call
that a cut).  What an odd way to start a
story - it ends just as bizarrely.

The
San Diego school board has boosted central-office personnel in recent months,
raising salaries and adding jobs even as it prepared to sell off surplus
property, increase class sizes and pare back its teaching force through attrition to help balance its budget.

Fraud, waste, and abuse is something
the military rambles on and on and on about, but never does anything about. I
remember being at my 2^nd duty station in the 1990s and a big case
about procurement fraud was exposed – the
military said it would never happen again. 
Fast forward to 2013 and it is STILL HAPPENING.  Stop the Navy
(and DOD as a whole) from procuring anything until they are audited.

ON THE SHOW TODAY:

Mitt Romney and his wife gave
their first interview to the Fox News Channel (from his home in La Jolla). Romney
actually thought he was going to win, until he saw the results (well no duh).

Los Angeles goes to the polls on
Tuesday to start the process of picking a new mayor (the current one will likely
be partying with Charlie Sheen).  What
does the LA Times think the biggest problem facing the city is? Public spaces
aren’t as pretty as private ones – not kidding.  You’d think for a city nearing bankruptcy that
they’d worry less about the look of LAX and more about lowing the cost of
running things, but nope.

Some
of the cities are real, some of them are fiction (think of American Dad and
Family Guy), but one thing is true:
there are a lot of cities that claim to be home of television shows and the map
is interesting.

The
sky fell with sequestration on Friday and Obama (who came up with the idea) made a point of going around the country to talk
about how terrible it was going to be (forgetting that every American had to
pay 2% more in taxes on January 1^st and asking government to do
without the same percentage doesn’t seem so bad), but
what about the myths of the sequester? 
Interesting too is that the military is talking about all that it is
cutting – air
shows are on the chopping block – if they’re that expensive they shouldn’t have
been doing them to begin with.

Obama was hoping that he’d get a
bounce (and
the House in 2014) out of spreading the lie that sequestration was
going to bring down the American economy and that it involved budget cuts, but
there is not a single cut – just a decrease in growth.  Don’t
listen to the people building ships in San Diego – they may not be working in
the future, but it’s not because DOD is getting less money – they’re not.  Then there are the people crying fire in a
crowded theater about the cost of federal
spending in San Diego – the federal dollars in the region DOUBLED since 2000 –
from $19 billion to $38 billion. We should be cutting federal spending
to the level we were spending in 2002 and the number of people that the feds
employed. 

Speaking of less money – if you’re
willing to shell out a
million bucks you can join 1,000 other crazy people in Edwardian dress to said
the Titanic II.  Why would you?  No idea, but at least you’ll be surrounded by
others with a similar state of lunacy.

Rear
Admiral David H. Lewis made a joke about sequestration – talking about the cut
the military is taking, but is it a cut? And if there is so little money how is
the military doing so much construction?
Say your wife went to the store and saw a dress that was originally priced at
$2,000 and she got it for $500. She doesn’t go and spend the $1,500 because it
was ‘savings’ – she got something on sale, but still spent money. That’s not
how government calculates cost: if government was buying the same dress, the
$500 that was spent would have been a $1,500 cut.  Americans
are getting wise and Obama’s approval is back down into the 40s.

The
only thing standing between President Obama bankrupting the country and us
having some semblance of fiscal discipline is the Republican House.  Obama is
banking that the House will turn back to the Democrats in 2014 so he can take
his agenda back to the free-spending craziness that was the first term.

Americans
saw the largest decline in income this year than they did since the 1970s (when
Carter was president). Obama will blame everybody
else for the issue and act as if not taxing people more is the issue, when the
issue is one thing: jobs. In fact, we could turn the job numbers around by
allowing the Keystone XL pipeline – something Obama was against before he was
for.  Now
environmentalists are coming out to talk about the evils of a pipeline that
even his own State Department can’t oppose.

Karl
Rove gave the California Republican Party to step up communications.  My reaction: California has a Republican
Party? How many times can you lose
elections before you’re written off as having to do more than talk?

Have you ever thought about
relocating to avoid the gigantic taxes levied on you as a “wealthy”
Californian?  The Caribbean isn’t the
only tax haven; many are finding out that one place is just as good (albeit a
little more rain) – ENGLAND!  Thousands
are giving up their US citizenship to move to Knightsbridge.

Remember when Vice President Biden
told people to get a shotgun if they wanted to keep people away from their
home?  One
guy took that advice and it landed him in hot water – how hot?  Hot enough to say that the only defense for
this guy might be “Biden made me do it.”

Queen
Elizabeth II has a stomach virus and is in the hospital.  Wouldn’t you
want to be a fly on the wall of Charles and Camilla’s apartments at Buckingham
Palace?  I’m not so sure he’s wishing his
mother well…
