ON THE
Religion of peace update: a
fatwa was issued last week in Saudi Arabia – not for terrorists or child
molesters; rather, the “cleric” wants baby girls to wear burkas. Progress – normally they would just stone
them to death.
A former Marine is accused of killing an American hero: Chris
Kyle’s killer is being held in Dallas on $3 million bond and gun
control fanatics are already using Kyle’s death as a reason for gun
control. It should be noted that the
killer used a gun that would NOT be illegal under the gun bill in the Congress
& Kyle
took the Marine to the range with him so he was not opposed to private
use of legal weapons.
The
‘American Sniper’ author was gunned down by Eddie Ray Routh, a former Marine
who is already using the PTSD defense to explain his
crime. There are millions of American
Servicemen with PTSD of some form or another, but none of them are walking up
to people and shooting them point blank in the head. If PTSD is allowed as a defense here then
we’re going down what will be a long, tragedy-filled road.
Mark
Kelly, husband of former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, took to the airwaves and
will travel with the president to tell the country why we need more gun
control. Kelly, a
retired Navy Captain and former astronaut, says his 25 years of military
experience makes him an expert in issues related to the Second Amendment. How?
By flying over Iraq and Kuwait and going to space – anybody know when
the last time he qualified on a weapon?
The British are not known for
carrying guns (Piers Morgan would have you believe that only 30 people died in
the UK last year from guns, but it’s not true, that in a bit), but a
man was tasered by police in front of Buckingham Palace for waving a knife
around. The next 15 shows on CNN
will show Piers, live in the UK (tapping somebody’s phone – NO KIDDING)
reporting on knife violence. Now
to gun crime (where guns are banned) in the UK.
And left-leaning
newspapers are coming out talking about Kelly as a ‘dream candidate’ for any
Arizona elected office. His qualifications? Well, he’s married to Giffords and she got
shot.
Super Bowl XLVII (that’s 47 for
public school kids) is on today and the bowl
game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens takes center
stage in New Orleans. Truthfully,
I’ll just be glad when the thing is over so I can stop hearing commercials
about “the big game” and any
and all “brother”-blurbs (referring to the head coaches of each of the teams).
Violence almost always follows
sporting events (it happens all over the world), but the
district attorney in San Francisco is telling people there that he will not
tolerate violence after the game. Too
bad somebody can’t introduce a measure in Chicago
to stop the violence there – the murder capital of America added more bodies
this weekend. People in Chicago woke to find their city hitting another
dismal record: violence has topped the days of Al Capone’s era.
But
they have gun control you say? Yup they do.
Safest city for guns says the City of Chicago. But who are you going to believe: the families of the
piles of dead or the city fathers that want
to convince people that gun control works (remember, these are the
ideas that are being pushed on the American people).
The big question (no, not who’ll
win – 49ers by 3) is whether or not Beyoncé will sing or lip-sync. She’s
not getting paid for her performance (she normally makes about $2 million per
performance), but with all the eyes that will be on her – it’s a lot of free
airtime.
Many Americans will wake-up
tomorrow with a hangover and still more will not go to work and end up calling
in sick – all because they drank too much.
The
search for a cure (of a hangover) has been sought for ages, but an enterprising
doctor in Las Vegas thinks he has the answer. IF you
do make it to work tomorrow (since the petition to make the day after the Super
Bowl a national holiday failed) and you want to impress your friends
(or co-workers) why not throw around
statistics beyond the score and who won?
Patsy Stone (AbFab) once asked the
difference between a child’s painting and painting made to look like a child
painted it. When
you see how much these paintings sold for you’ll want to trade your day job for
an easel and some paint.
How can you read reports out of
the Los Angeles Catholic Archdiocese and not be heartbroken for people of faith
in L.A.? Tens of thousands of pages of documents were
released last week showing the rampant sexual abuse that went on between
priests and children and the extent of the cover-up. Priests
all over the Southland heard an apology during mass on Sunday – did it
go far enough to heal this grieving community of Catholics?
Elmer Obama? President
Obama released a photo of himself shooting a gun at Camp David (he was
skeet shooting, which was obviously the reason the Founders put the Second
Amendment into the Constitution). It
took no time at all for people to start lampooning the “frequent” shooter
Barack as this series of ridicule pictures will show you. The picture was of the president shooting
during a trip to Camp David during the Marine Guard’s annual skeet tournament
(Obama stayed about five minutes, just long enough to get a picture).
Speaking of the Marine Guards: former
Senator Chuck Hagel had his day on Capitol Hill and was grilled (by the
right and the left) when he didn’t know the policy of the U.S. government on
Iran, called Iran’s government democratic and legitimate, indicated that the
Jewish-lobby doesn’t have Congressmen in their pockets (contrary to his
previous public comment) and generally
showed himself UNWORTHY of the salute he would be rendered by the
military. His performance was abysmal
and nobody can change that. Hagel
was not left to fend for himself – he had notes passed, help from Democratic
Senators and MSNBC.
The
U-T asks the question: Is the border secure? How any
analysis of border security can act as if the terrible economy over the last
four years as not impacted the number of illegals streaming across the border
is bizarre. If an illegal from Mexico
(or anywhere else) can take a vacation to Mexico annually the border is not
secure.
